The Wisconsin Soybean Association (WSA) and Wisconsin Soybean Marketing Board (WSMB) released the lineup of speakers for this year’s 2019 Wisconsin Corn-Soy Expo, the premier event for corn, soybean and pork producers. This year, attendees will hear from industry leaders, such as Kim Bremmer, Shawn Conley, Rodrigo Werle and more on critical topics in crop production and related research.
Hosted at the Kalahari Resort in the Wisconsin Dells, the annual Corn-Soy Expo brings together over 1,200 growers, vendors and industry leaders from across the region and offers numerous opportunities for education, networking and fun. This year’s event will be held on January 31 and February 1, 2019.
“The Corn-Soy Expo is a chance for local farmers to come together to discuss and learn new ways to address the challenges they face every day. It’s a valuable opportunity to connect with some of the industry’s leading researchers and gain a better understanding of how to improve production practices” said Tony Mellenthin, President of the WSA and soybean farmer from Menomonie, WI.
Recently, the soybean industry has received significant media attention due to the mounting pressure caused by the US-China trade tariffs. It’s no surprise, then, that some of the sessions at this year’s Expo will address how growers can continue to manage their operations in a tumultuous trade environment. Such sessions include a keynote presentation by David Kohl, Professor Emeritus of Agricultural Finance and Small Business Management at Virginia Tech, titled “Straight Talk, Straight Actions: Agriculture in a Changing Economy.”
