It’s that time of year again! Soybean and Wheat Extension Specialist, Dr. Shawn Conley, has made the call for growers to enter into the 2019 Wisconsin Soybean Yield Contest.
The Wisconsin Soybean Association (WSA) Soybean Yield Contest is organized each year to encourage the development of new and innovative management practices that highlight the importance of using sound cultural practices in Wisconsin soybean production systems. Any soybean production system can enter and two winners will be selected from each of four geographical divisions in the state.
Entries must be postmarked by December 1, 2019 to be eligible for the contest. Trophies and cash prizes will be awarded to the first ($1,000) and second ($500) place winners in each geographic division.
Last year’s winners of the 2018 Wisconsin Soybean Yield Contest were announced at the 2019 Wisconsin Corn-Soy Expo held January 31-February 1, 2019 at the Kalahari Resort and Convention Center. Growers from each of the four divisions were awarded first and second place trophies. A winner of the Soybean Quality Award was also awarded.
Overall, the contest revealed a variety of successful farming practices across all submissions and gave entrants the opportunity to further celebrate their notable harvests.
