Grower Resource: Dr. Damon Smith

I’m Dr. Damon Smith. As a State Extension Specialist, my goal is to help growers prevent or limit field crop diseases common in soybean and small grains through accurate, non-biased information.  I study managing diseases through improved host resistance, field management and chemical control. What I learn in my research finds near immediate use in the field. I’m also working to develop and improve disease forecasting systems to better advise growers on fungicide applications. I’m an Assistant Professor of Plant Pathology at the University of Wisconsin—Madison, and earned my Ph.D in Plant Pathology from North Carolina State University in 2007.
