WSA Announcement – AMS Agreement

MADISON, WI – May 2022

Wisconsin Soybean Program Partners with Ag Management Solutions While Search For Executive Director Continues

While we grieve the loss of Bob Karls, our long-standing executive director, we also acknowledge that business for the Wisconsin Soybean Marketing Board and the Wisconsin Soybean Association must continue. Bob and our Board of Directors have had a strong vision and a robust queue of projects, programs and initiatives, and we are steadfast in our commitment to seeing these efforts through.

In order to meet our immediate administrative and management needs, the Wisconsin Soybean Program has entered into an agreement with Ag Management Solutions (AMS) to provide interim executive management of both of our organizations while we search for a new executive director. AMS, based out of Mankato, Minn., is no stranger to the soybean checkoff and soybean advocacy, as AMS oversees management of the Minnesota Soybean Growers Association and the Minnesota Soybean Research & Promotion Council. AMS also oversaw the successful launch and continued management of the Specialty Soya and Grains Alliance. In addition, AMS manages Northern Soy Marketing, LLC, Plasma Blue, LLC, the Ag Innovation Campus, and the Minnesota Biodiesel Council. AMS boasts a staff of nearly 30, with experts in a variety of disciplines and provides services in executive management, board governance, membership, accounting, administration, and marketing and communications.

The AMS Team, led by Scott Miller, Melinda Roberts and Joe Smentek will oversee both our Marketing Board and our Association. Scott is the current AMS CFO, Melinda is the current AMS Director of Administration and Joe is the current Executive Director for the Minnesota Soybean Growers Association.

We are confident AMS will help us not only keep us on our mission, but also serve Wisconsin farmers in our continued effort to innovate, educate and promote the Wisconsin Soybean Program.
